Last weekend our Championship Pairs were played – very unpleasant weather conditions on the Sunday. The men have now reached the final and this will be played between Chris Carter/Bruce Hollow and Paddy Breslin/Ken Adam. The women’s competition is down to post section.
Just a reminder that the Centre singles which were rained off will be played Wellington Anniversary weekend 21st – 23rd January. Entries have been reopened so if you wish to enter you can do so up until 9 January. There will be 1 green at our Club – markers will be required please.
Saturday afternoon 17th December we had the Tom & Marie Waters Memorial Trophy competition. The number of members participating was disappointing but those that did play had a very good and competitive time. The winners were May Pihama; Batts; Robyn Carter and Brian Irwin. Well played to them. Many thanks to Kerry Kiely and his assistants for a nice meal that evening.
Our raffles were drawn with many prize winners. Many thanks to Marilyn for organising this and those who assisted her in making up the prizes. Of course this couldn’t have happened without our donations so many thanks to all those who donated the prizes.
On the 10th & 11th December the Centre Pairs were held and yet again the weather played havoc with a Centre event. We had 3 women’s teams (Sharon/Robyn; Sandy/Beverley; Marilyn/Dawn) qualified. Unfortunately they all lost their first post section games. For the men Ken/Stu qualified, they had a bye into the second round but unfortunately lost the game. Well done to all our bowlers who soldiered on in pretty awful conditions.
Petone Central was Headquarters Sunday & Monday. Many thanks to Sharon & Marilyn who did the catering for the day on Monday. It was much appreciated.
There is a notice on the Board from the Centre to assist members who are entering Centre competitions through their website.
The Development 242 Pairs will now be played on Saturday 4 March, 2017 with entries closing on Monday 20 February at 12 noon.
Entries for the Women’s Prestige Pairs are re-opened and entries close midday 30 January. This competition which was postponed due to bad weather will now be played on 14 – 16th February.
Our new Club shirts have arrived and for those of you who have ordered them they can be collected from either Sandy Booth or Chris Robson. Any member wanting a second shirt can also do this through Sandy & Chris.
This Friday night is our Christmas Eve get together (yes 1 day early!). So if you are coming along please bring some nibbles and join in the festive spirit.
For any members who have entered competitions over the Christmas/New Year period we wish you all good bowling. Members are welcome to the Club during this period and have a roll up.
|The President and Executive wish all members and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year|
What are you waiting for?
Petone Central Bowling Club came into being in June 2008 as a result of the merger between two former Clubs — the Petone Bowling Club and the Central Bowling Club. Both Clubs were well established in the Petone area with the Petone Bowling Club being inaugurated in 1897 and the Central Bowling Club in 1917.
